Playing in the snow

The first time it snowed this year, I was so excited for Bianca and Portia to play in it, but Portia wouldn't have anything to do with it. But today, out of no where, Portia decided she wanted to build a snowman. So, she convinced (without too much effort) Bianca to go out and play in the snow with her. They threw a lot of snowballs, made some snow angels, and then sculpted their masterpiece snowman. Afterwards, we sat by the fire and then had hot cocoa. Ah yes, this is what makes childhood fun. And I'm glad they got out there today because it's raining all the snow away tonight.

I love the purple coat, it reminds me of Penelope.

I love Portia's hat. Is it Bianca's? I notice her wearing it ice skating. Is that the outdoor rink by the SOJO library?

No, both my girls have a hat like that because Portia kept taking Bianca's last year. And yes, it's the rink by the library.

Is that weird that I want Bianca's coat in my size?

I feel the same way!

I saw them out there that day! They are so cute together! Don't you wish it was that easy for us as adults to just drop everything and play in the snow? My girls love it, but the first thing that pops into my mind is all the work it is to bundle them up, and then all the work it is to un-bundle them and then do the laundry that smells like wet dog. Alas - I still cave because I love how happy it makes them.

I agree--I hate the puddles from the snow boots left in my entry way. But it is a rite of passage for children.
